A Shield for Battle

"he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him." Psalm 18:30b

shield: a broad piece of armor, varying widely in form and size, carried apart from the body, usually on the left arm, as a defense against swords, lances, arrows, etc.

We recently finished watching a new mini~series, "The Pacific". A gift to my husband for Father's Day. I was especially interested in this movie because this is where my grandfather & great uncle served during WWII in the Navy.

God could have used any means at His disposal to rescue the world from unthinkable evil. Yet, he chose to use fighting men.

I am remembering tonight that we who have fled to Christ for refuge are engaged in a battle. Though not with flesh and blood.

It can be fierce at times.

I fail in multiple ways.

I cannot always discern where my enemy lies in wait.

Boot camp pales in comparison to the intense heat of the battle, but God does not fail me.

He lifts me when I fall.

He trains me as I go.

He lights my way.

He is my shield, over body and soul. (Psalm 18:16~42)

"You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great." Psalm 18:35
