"The most wonderful of fairy tales that has come true"

My nephew and niece~in~law gave our family this wonderful cd set by Andrew Peterson for Christmas. It's been available for a few years now and it tells the astounding "true tale" of the Bible (well, in a condensed musical form, of course).

Basically, it's the gospel story. And it's beautiful. And I've been listening to it over and over and I'm driving my teenage son crazy. But that's fun too...
On the live version, Andrew opens up with a paraphrased reading from this book by Sally Lloyd Jones (which I am buying to read with my grandson soon).

I've been listening to this each morning as I run my errands and well, I simply can't get over this:

"No, the Bible isn't a book of rules or a book of heroes. The Bible is most of all a story. It's an adventure story about a young hero who comes from a far country to win back his lost treasure. It's a love story about a brave prince who leaves his palace, his throne, everything...to rescue the one he loves. It is like the most wonderful of fairy tales that has come true in real life.

You see, the best thing about this story is, it's true. There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all the stories are telling one big story. The story of how God loves his children and comes to rescue them. It takes the whole Bible to tell this story and at the center of the story...there's a baby. Every story in the Bible whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle, the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together and suddenly you can see a beautiful picture."

We have that Bible--our pastors gave it to us/all families at one of our parenting seminars; they also sent one for one of the boy's birthdays one year. We've read it through, but should revisit it soon. The CD sounds excellent as well.
