True Comfort
"For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified." ~ Hebrews 10:14
I'm not one for fluff. Material, spiritual or otherwise. So when it comes to finding joy each day, especially in the midst of difficulty, I just can't settle for trifles.
Don't get me wrong, I'll take those momentary pleasures...over and over I will.
But, they are fleeting. Truly fleeting.
Why just tonight I asked my husband, "Why does God seem to make "everything" so difficult?...I mean, "everywhere" we turn. No sooner had I uttered those words than the points of my morning devotional ribboned through my mind...
..."for by a single offering..." Christ. His finished work, has perfected me. Me? Accepted by a holy and just God..."by a single offering".
In God's relentless dispensation of varying trials, true comfort is found only in the treasure of the gospel. In fact, it's those very trials of darkness that make that treasure even more glorious...if that were even possible.
