Whatever is lovely...

Family priorities have taken precedence over my vintage projects awaiting (actually, screaming for!!) my attention. One of my dear treasures, my husband and mine's disabled son, call our energies to be placed into fiercely advocating for him at times. Something that we do not relish in any way, shape or form. In fact, I find myself saying often, "will someone please just wake me up from this nightmare!?!".

As you can imagine, our eyes have been acutely opened to a grief stricken world of suffering families. So much so, that it is easy to let it consume me with an overwhelming sadness.

Yet, true to form, God's Word is my light..."Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things".
(Philippians 4:8 ESV)

This is why I am blogging today, focusing on the honorable and the lovely. I'ts not very hard to do this when you are surrounded by it.

My mom, for example. She makes cards. Many, many beautiful and personal, stamped and decorated, cards for family and friends. She has been doing this for years and never forgets birthdays (unlike her daughter...ehem) and each special occasion. No matter how large or small, she remembers.

So you can imagine how frustrated my husband was when his Father's Day card from my mother this year became the victim of a certain little Beagle's climb to the top of a certain counter only to spill a certain someone's coffee cup all over it!

When the defiled card began to dry, I noticed how lovely the stamped and faded horses appeared. So I preserved them and gave it a new life...forever (well, for a long time anyway) they'll be on this magnet.

Turning the defiled, the broken, into something lovely...(this is my God)

I know it's dark, but you can see, I now have a little treasure on the fridge. To remind me of the ultimate lovely (Isaiah 53).

And I'm busy making more treasures to place here at "Green Table Gifts", a most lovely place...and "Village Antiques" too.

And yeah, speaking of lovely!!

Grand-babies and mothers.

You see, it's not too hard to think about these things. We just need to open our eyes.

How lovely is our Lord! And He helps us see the beauty in dark times! Beauty for ashes!
