What Shall I Render?

"What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me?" ~ Psalm 116:12

I am in an immensely busy season. God is good to have my record album (so to speak) on "skip" with just a few select Psalms. Psalm 116 and Psalm 92 to be exact. If you're going to be stuck somewhere, this is a nice place to be. Because God knows our frames, He knows how we are made, and He knows what we need. And I need to be reminded over and over with the same things.

One particular thing that is sticking out to me in Psalm 116 is how David is asking himself the above question (what shall I render?) as He recounts God's gracious mercy in hearing his cries for help, out of deep despair.

"Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live."

...therefore...I will call on him as long as I live?

Yes, three times in this chapter he says that one of his responses to God hearing Him when He called...was to...continue...to call on Him. As long as He lived.

Do I ever think that way? Don't I forget...to keep calling? How utterly obvious, that if God has answered me before...I will keep on calling on Him. And all the more...

all. the. days. of. my. life.
