..."the handing over"
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us," Ephesians 3:20
When we open our hands to receive from God, sickness or health of our loved ones, we may soon be surprised at how He chooses to give. And it is always good, always.
We thought our son would be coming home this week, instead God has provided another level of care. All in His timing, expressing His faithfulness and lavish love and compassion for my son.
My sweet sister, Dawn, sent this to me this morning for encouragement. Dawn has recently lost her dear mother in law to a stroke and now another friend to cancer. Here is what her friend's husband wrote:
"Several months ago, when we had again entered into chemotherapy, Betty had a conversation with God in which she said to Him, “I really want to stay here in this beautiful world and take care of my kids and grandchildren and to have fun being Grandma.” God spoke back to her saying, “You have no idea how much more beautiful heaven is than where you are now, and taking care of your kids and grandchildren is my responsibility, not yours.” I don’t know if He addressed the fun part, but it was at least implied that she didn’t know much about that either! She pondered that for a long time and concluded that God was right, but He hadn’t said she had to go now. Thus, she did all she could to stay here and live."
..."our happiness comes, too, not in the having but in the handing over." Ann Voskamp ~ "One Thousand Gifts"
