The Something Better
I want to apologize to anyone out there who may have read my previous post from election night. It has since been deleted, appropriately so, by myself. I was responding to comments made in a passionate way without self~control. My hope is to grow in this area, especially in light of my zeal for advocacy for the disabled. I want to focus on all things good, and not the negative...there's already too much of that in this world and it does no one good nor does it glorify my savior. So, I sincerely apologize.
Speaking of all things good, I wanted to share a book that my sweet sister in law gave to me, "Refusing To Settle For Life as Usual: Hoping for Something Better", by Nancy Guthrie.
It's a challenging and in depth study of the book of Hebrews and it is just what I needed. Nancy has a distinct teaching gift to women, straight forward and clear...I'm finding myself seeing and savoring Jesus like I never have before. That's the something better part...the oh so something better, that's been hiding (at least for me) in the book of Hebrews like a precious treasure.
Here's a taste from the book:
"Jesus' sacrifice was once and for all. It did not have to be repeated. And rather than providing momentary, partial forgiveness, his sacrifice provided pervasive, eternal forgiveness.
Do you know what this means for you? God is not waiting for you to figure out how you are going to make things right, how you are going to even the scales for the wrongs you have done. In one sacrifice, because of its supreme worth and perfection, your sin has been removed. Once for all. That's how good our high priest is. That's what Jesus is worth."
Whew! That is the best news ever!

Jesus, thank You;
The Father’s wrath completely satisfied
Jesus, thank You;
Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table
Jesus, thank You!"
"My sins have been paid in full . . .
What You complete is completely done!"
"Guilty, vile, and helpless we
Spotless Lamb of God was He
Full atonement, can it be? Hallelujah
Lifted up was He to die
“It is finished” was His cry
Now in heav’n exalted high
Hallelujah, hallelujah!"
