Honor

It's a bit late in the day, but I do want to say thank you to the men and women who have served in our armed forces and gave the greatest gift of all to our country. Their very lives.

Today we remember you. We honor you. And we pray for the families that are left behind. One day to say thank you and one little blog post seems so feeble and trite for what you gave. Yet I will say it again...thank you.

"Dear Heavenly Father, I pray today for the families of the men and women who have fallen. Lord, it may seem to them that we have forgotten, that no one notices. Please show them that You see, that You have not forgotten. Provide for their needs, heal their hearts, mend their brokenness as only You can. Thank you for these that have served us in countries far from home. Far from comfort. Far from applause and congratulations. Shine your light on wives, husbands, mother, fathers and children left behind. Thank you for these, bless them this day with consolations beyond what we can comprehend. You are good. You are gracious. And you have a purpose in all things. Thank you for our freedom in America, may we grow in sober appreciation and stewardship of what has been given to us."

I'm up in the mountains for a few days visiting with my mom as she recovers from major back surgery. I'll be back soon to tend to my forlorn blog, refreshed and inspired.

See you soon!
