My North Star
"My soul melts away for sorrow;
strengthen me according to your word!" ~ Psalm 119:28
Hey girls, let's be honest. When we are sorrowful, hearts heavy laden from trials, how do we expect God to meet us? Most likely we want the circumstance to change. And if that doesn't happen, we want to "feel" better.
I'd like to be less sorrowful and more joyful thank you very much.
But the journey to joy is often hard fought. The battle is waged in the valley of worn out knees and tear stained pillows. And no sweet little sentiment can abate the acute pain. No, when I'm wounded, I want substance. The truth, the searing truth about God. I want to know Him, no that's not true...I want to see Him. I'm longing for Him...
And nothing, no nothing, strengthens me like his Word. The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It's like a compass for my soul. God is the North star and my Bible points me to Him...no, it lets me see Him.
Now my circumstances and feelings come in to focus, adjusting as I find Him. My North star. Strenghtening me according to the compass of His word.

John 1:1-2, 14 (ESV):
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God . . . And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth."
