The Water is Fine
A while back I mentioned my internal struggle with defensiveness and self preservation regarding Christian resources, opinions, comments, you name it, pertaining to mental illness...I love you Christian peeps, I really do. I was on dry land at one time, but since God saw fit to put me in the canal (more on that later) with mental illness, I think it's high time I swim with the tide.
By swimming on, I mean giving other folks the benefit of the doubt. So I'm doing it. Prying open the door of my heart and listening and reading (ever so slowly) CCEF's material on Psychiatry.
And I'm loving it so far. It's balanced, it's compassionate. And I'm thinking, "what was I afraid of"??
Here's a little taste in a 15 minute podcast. The heading states: "In this podcast, Dr.John Applegate, a board certified psychiatrist who currently practices in Philadelphia, shares how he balances living in the two worlds of Biblical Counseling and Psychiatry. Dr. Applegate addresses some of the typical questions that Christians face when approaching the topic of medication."
Listen: "Typical Questions in Psychiatry"
